027. spoons, tacos & a tub of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream

lunch w/ aimmee and mr. denman was cancelled due to an emergency meeting. :( instead, i had (a long overdue) lunch with my friend jamelle @ spoons in cerritos. i had never eaten there before, but it is pretty much the same type of food as chili's (or jamelle says so, at least). it was an excellent lunch (thank you!) with excellent conversation. wow, we discussed so many things, from school, computer science, relationships, religion, politics, life experiences, friends, random. i do, indeed, enjoy stimulating conversation. i think it's easy talking to jamelle because we have so much in common and so much we can relate to, even though he's five years older. (1) he went to my elementary/middle school (st. maria goretti school). (2) he altar served with me way back when @ goretti (3) he is the only person from our elementary/middle school (other than myself) to attend our high school, CAMS (california academy of math and science) -- he was class of '00 and i was class of '05. (4) he was a CS major & i am EECS. i suppose the majority of our conversation does involve our past schools, people we know from those schools, experiences at those schools, church experiences, and religious beliefs/our catholicism. it's so interesting comparing and contrasting the aforementioned regarding how things were back then and how things are now. for example, i no longer attend mass at st. maria goretti church; i attend st. pancratius church (the masses there are more enjoyable and it is closer to my house). jamelle still attends goretti; however, we have both noticed how the population of the congregation at goretti seems to be reducing in number, especially after our favorite priest, father al, left. he was pretty much the driving force of that church and was in charge of the altar servers and other church activities. in addition, the school turnout in general seems to be diminishing as well; jamelle claims the annual carnivals are not as successful as they used to be. i suppose that was a sneak peek into our topic of conversation today. :] it was good times indeed.

afterward, i headed over to jackie's house in long beach. ah! i missed her so much! it was great seeing her and her mom again. her mom is so nice, funny, and cute! she was getting ready for a school dance (she works for banning high school) and her outfit was absolutely adorable. jackie's tummy is quite obvious now - about 6 months along! it's a boy. as much as i am worried for her because she is having a baby at such a young age, i can't help but be excited along with them (jackie, her mom, and alex). that's definitely going to be a cute and very much loved baby. we plan on shopping for baby clothes sometime soon! :) after sitting around and discussing how sad we were that we both didn't have disneyland annual passes anymore and how much we missed disneyland, alex (jackie's bf) took jackie and me out for baskin robbins because we had a crazy idea of buying a small chocolate chip cookie dough (our favorite flavor!) ice cream cake for the two of us to eat! that turned into buying a tub of ice cream instead because they didn't have any cakes of that flavor ready for purchase. :( following purchasing ice cream, we headed to the mexican restaurant next door and alex bought us tacos and horchata! mmm mmm mmm.

catching up with old friends is always a good experience. :)

jackie had something in her teeth! :D
