023. songs & nostalgia.

i hung out with morgan tonight. she picked me up at 6 and we went to lakewood mall and shopped until it closed... at 7. i bought a few new dresses. :) oh dear, there goes the $$$. afterward, we went to mimi's cafe for dinner. their "petite" salads are not quite petite; in fact, they're rather regular sized, if i may say so myself. actually, morgan agrees with me. we were both in awe when we received what were supposed to be our "petite" salads. it was nice to spend time with her and update each other on what's going on in our lives. we never cease to have good conversations every time we hang out, so i enjoy that a lot. :) good, mature, eye-opening, challenges-of-growing-up, school/family/relationships types of conversations. we wrapped up around 9 and she came over for a bit, said hi to my parents, and played guitar - she played me some of the music she wrote. good times. i think i'm going to try to go to ucla sometime this week to visit her. who wants to join me for the ride? :] aww, morgan and i, we go way back - 14 years!!! i love you, best friend. :)

after morgan time, i watched night at the museum with my parents. all this week, i've pretty much just enjoyed staying at home, reading or renting movies to watch with the parental units after dinner. i like family time. :)

ah yes, and i attempted to write lyrics to one of morgan's songs, except her music ended up being too fast for my lyrics and i ended up making my own melody up, consisting of the G and CMajor7+5 chords on the guitar: pretty much some of the only chords i know?! hah hah hah. it's not too bad, i suppose. i always think my lyrics are cheesy though. :/ ah, well. hurray to me writing a song? i just need someone to arrange it musically on the guitar; yeah, my "knowledge" of chords won't cut it -- i'm still learning! i've always just played by tabs. shush.

our kitchen is pretty much done being remodeled. it looks nice.

went to church at st. pancratius in the morning. i enjoyed the choir a lot, as always. full band - drums, guitar, bass, etc. so fun. and they played some of my favorite church songs too! "you are mine," "now is the time," "sing of the Lord's goodness." going to church at st. pancratius is always nostalgic for me because i always see familiar faces of people i used to know or know of from elementary or high school - mostly people who attended st. joseph high school or st. john bosco high school. it's kind of weird, when i think about it... i mean, i'm gone for most of the year so when i come back home and go to church on sundays, it feels odd to see those people and think about how they're pretty much still here, hanging out with the same people from high school and such, going to the same places, doing the same things, and, pretty much, life goes on in lakewood while i'm away. sometimes i begin to wonder how it would have been if i hadn't gone away to college, if i had just gone some place nearby and pretty much stayed home. ah, thoughts. *shrug*
